Volvo’s Chief of Engineering and Technology, Anders Bell, recently stated unequivocally that the company will “absolutely” continue supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across its vehicle lineup, including electric models. He emphasized that Volvo’s core philosophy is to seamlessly integrate cars into users’ digital lives, rather than forcing users to adapt to a closed automotive ecosystem. Bell acknowledged that poor past experiences with in-car infotainment systems were one reason for CarPlay’s widespread popularity, and thus Volvo is committed to developing a “truly native,” top-tier in-car system. However, he stressed that even if Volvo’s proprietary system excels, the company will still respect user choice and ensure optimal integration for both CarPlay and Android Auto. Regarding Apple’s next-generation deeply integrated platform, CarPlay Ultra, Volvo has not yet confirmed support, stating only that it will focus on delivering an exceptional CarPlay integration experience.
