Toyota Motor Corporation recently announced its full-year results for 2025: global sales reached 11.3 million vehicles (including Daihatsu, Hino, and Lexus), up 4.6% year-over-year, marking the sixth consecutive year as the world’s top-selling automaker and further widening its lead over Volkswagen. Total production for the year stood at 11.2 million units, an increase of 5.7% compared to the previous year. The U.S. market delivered strong performance, with combined Toyota and Lexus sales rising by 8%, driven primarily by hybrid models. Domestic sales in Japan grew by 12%, accounting for approximately 18% of global sales. In China, sales rebounded slightly with a 0.2% increase—the first positive growth in four years. Notably, Toyota’s global battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales in 2025 remained below 200,000 units, with only 4,227 units delivered in Japan, indicating that BEV adoption still significantly lags behind other major markets.
