NVIDIA and Mercedes-Benz are collaborating to deploy autonomous taxi services in major cities worldwide, based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan and powered by its new MB.OS in-vehicle operating system. On January 29, the two companies announced that Uber has officially joined the initiative, forming a trio to build an open autonomous driving platform. This platform enables partners to develop highly complex applications on Mercedes-Benz’s core system—preserving Mercedes-Benz’s control over its software while integrating external technological resources. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that the goal is to make autonomous driving technology accessible to the masses. A specific launch date has not yet been announced. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is working with companies like Bosch and Momenta to advance the deployment of autonomous driving, while NVIDIA leverages this partnership to accelerate its competition with industry leaders such as Tesla and Waymo.
