Recently, a Toyota owner in Texas experienced a terrifying incident shortly after getting an oil change and tire rotation at an AutoNation Toyota dealership: his right front wheel suddenly detached as he was entering a highway on-ramp. Luis Rodriguez, the vehicle owner, posted a video on TikTok stating that the car involved was a brand-new Toyota 4Runner. Not only did the tire fall off, but he also discovered a new nail embedded in the tread, and the wheel hub bearing seal appeared visibly deformed. Rodriguez refused to let the dealership reinstall the wheel on-site and instead demanded a tow truck. In a follow-up video, Rodriguez revealed that AutoNation has since acknowledged responsibility, confirming that the technician had forgotten to tighten the lug nuts on that wheel. Fortunately, no injuries occurred. The vehicle remains under repair, and both parties are currently negotiating a resolution. According to AAA, wheel detachments are typically caused by improper installation or loose fasteners, leading to approximately 33,000 accidents annually.
