Subaru recently revealed an intriguing statistic while introducing its new Outback Wilderness model: 3% of Outback owners use their vehicles to transport chickens. After this quirky fact drew attention, the brand shared more detailed statistics about pet ownership among its customers. The data shows that 54% of Outback owners have dogs, 27% own cats, and another 2% to 3% transport fish, birds, or chickens. Notably, among owners of the off-road-focused Wilderness trim, dog ownership drops by nearly 10%, yet chicken and bird ownership remains steady at 3% and 2%, respectively. These figures not only reflect Subaru owners’ lifestyles but also highlight the unique bond between cars and pets. Next time you see an Outback, take a guess—its passengers might be a dog, a cat... or perhaps a coop of chickens?
