At a press conference on January 30, the National Energy Administration revealed that to promote the development of new energy technologies, China will launch a "Three-Year Doubling Initiative" for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The goal is to build 28 million charging facilities by the end of 2027, driving investments exceeding RMB 200 billion. As of the end of December 2025, China had already installed 20.092 million charging points nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 49.7%, including 4.717 million public chargers and 15.375 million private chargers. China now operates the world’s largest EV charging network, supporting the charging needs of over 40 million new energy vehicles. Additionally, the government will advance the development of new-type energy storage and virtual power plants. By 2027, the installed capacity of new-type energy storage is expected to reach 180 million kilowatts, spurring approximately RMB 250 billion in investment.
