In response to a surge in vehicle thefts across Australia, Toyota Australia has recently launched an OEM-certified steering wheel lock called "The Club" for popular models such as the Land Cruiser, Hilux, and RAV4. Made from automotive-grade steel, the lock features an anti-tamper design and four soft resin contact points to prevent scratches on the steering wheel, while its bright red appearance serves as a visual deterrent. The accessory is now available as a factory option for the Land Cruiser 300 Series via Toyota’s official website. Additionally, Toyota plans to equip new vehicles with enhanced engine immobilizer systems, with further details to be announced later. This initiative is part of Toyota’s collaboration with police forces in Victoria and Queensland to combat increasingly sophisticated car theft methods. According to official data, Victoria recorded 32,997 vehicle thefts in 2025—the highest number in 23 years.
