According to the Financial Times, citing four people familiar with the matter, Ford Motor Company held preliminary discussions with Xiaomi regarding a potential partnership that could include establishing a joint venture in the United States to manufacture electric vehicles, helping Xiaomi enter the U.S. market. The report also indicated that Ford has approached other Chinese automakers, such as BYD, to explore possible collaborations in the U.S. In response, Ford officially denied the reports, calling them “completely false,” while Xiaomi has not yet commented. Notably, Ford CEO Jim Farley has repeatedly praised Xiaomi’s SU7 publicly, describing its technology as advanced and its driving experience as surpassing that of some European luxury brands. He even remarked that after driving the SU7, he no longer wanted to drive his previous car. Farley has also likened Xiaomi to “the Apple of China,” offering high praise for its intelligence features and performance.
