Changan UNI-Z Reports Overheating Issues; Northeast Owners Wrap Cars in Quilts for "Warmth"

Recently, an owner of a Changan UNI-Z hybrid vehicle in Harbin reported that the engine coolant temperature remained abnormally low—around 60°C—during extreme cold weather, resulting in poor cabin heating performance and difficulty warming the interior. Due to the frigid temperatures, the frustrated owner resorted to covering the front grille with a quilt in an attempt to raise the coolant temperature. The owner explained that as a hybrid vehicle, the car requires forced engine activation to prevent the battery from depleting too quickly. However, significant fluctuations in coolant temperature and inconsistent cabin heat have severely impacted usability. Additionally, the owner noted another issue: insufficient tightening torque on the engine mount bolts, causing unusual noises during uphill turns. A 4S dealership inspection reportedly found components like the thermostat to be functioning normally. The manufacturer responded that their cold-weather testing in northern regions aligns with the user’s experience, asserting that 60°C falls within the normal operating range. The owner, however, disputes this claim. Automotive influencer "Baituo Le Laosiji" (Please Help, Veteran Driver) has since stepped in to assist in contacting the manufacturer for a resolution.
