On February 1, media reports claimed that Ford was in talks with Xiaomi about forming a joint venture to produce electric vehicles in the United States. Xiaomi swiftly responded, calling the reports "completely false" and emphasizing that it currently does not sell products in the U.S. nor has it held any negotiations with Ford regarding a joint venture. Ford also explicitly stated that the report was "entirely fabricated and baseless." Although both companies denied any collaboration, it is worth noting that Ford CEO Jim Farley has repeatedly praised Chinese electric vehicles publicly and personally imported a Xiaomi SU7 for his own use. He previously warned that the production capacity and competitiveness of Chinese automakers pose an "existential threat" to Western manufacturers and predicted that Chinese companies "will inevitably enter" the U.S. market.
