Italian niche hypercar manufacturer De Tomaso has officially unveiled details of its all-new 6.2-liter V12 engine, developed specifically for the upcoming production version of the P900 hypercar. The engine, four years in development, weighs just 220 kilograms (485 pounds)—claimed to be the lightest V12 ever built—and produces 900 horsepower. It can run on synthetic fuels and features a redline of 12,300 rpm, surpassing the Cosworth V12 used in the Gordon Murray T.50. Power is sent exclusively to the rear axle via an Xtrac sequential gearbox. With a total vehicle weight of only 900 kilograms, the P900 achieves an astonishing 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, rivaling the Koenigsegg One:1. Starting at approximately $3 million, the P900 will stand as one of the few top-tier hypercars committed to a pure internal-combustion V12 powertrain.
