A Pennsylvania man recently encountered an unexpected setback while trying to purchase a 2026 Acura Integra Type S—he offered to close the deal within a week but received only a $500 discount from the dealer. The vehicle has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of approximately $55,000, while used models of the same trim have already dropped below $40,000. The buyer believed his offer was reasonable, but the sales manager said upper management rejected his proposed discount. The incident sparked heated discussion on TikTok, with some users suggesting that his claim of being ready to buy “within a week” was perceived by dealers as typical “tire-kicking”—a sign he wasn’t a serious buyer—thus undermining his negotiating credibility. Others questioned why dealers remain unwilling to offer significant discounts despite the Integra Type S’s sluggish sales. Although Acura maintains that the model still leads its segment, industry data shows its sales have been steadily declining from 2024 into 2025. Experts note that realistic room for negotiation typically ranges between 2% and 3% off the market price—roughly $1,100 to $1,600—far less than the $3,500 discount the buyer initially requested.
