On the evening of February 2, an electric vehicle resembling a Changan Qiyuan A07 suddenly emitted sparks from its undercarriage on the Luoyan Expressway in Luoyang, Henan Province, before quickly catching fire and erupting into flames. Mr. Cui, the driver of a following vehicle, immediately noticed the anomaly, honked repeatedly, and chased after the car to alert its driver to pull over. Although the driver attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, he swiftly evacuated the vehicle upon Mr. Cui’s urging. From the first appearance of sparks to full-blown combustion, only about two minutes elapsed. Fortunately, both occupants escaped in time, and no injuries were reported. The incident sparked widespread discussion online, with many netizens praising Mr. Cui for his calmness and quick action. Others reminded the public that in the event of a battery fire in a new-energy vehicle, immediate evacuation is crucial, as standard fire extinguishers are often ineffective against such blazes. The event has once again raised public concerns about the safety of new-energy vehicles.
