China's imported vehicle market declined by 32% overall in 2025, with sales totaling only 480,000 units. Major luxury brands—including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Porsche—all experienced double-digit declines. In contrast, Lexus maintained its position as the top-selling imported vehicle brand, achieving 183,800 retail sales and standing as the only imported luxury brand to post positive growth. Lexus has consistently sold around 180,000 units annually for three consecutive years. Its success stems from precise product positioning, advantages in hybrid technology, and strong user口碑 (reputation). The ES series alone accounted for over 60% of its sales, while hybrid models made up 52% of total deliveries, effectively balancing fuel efficiency and reliability. Meanwhile, Lexus has initiated localization efforts, planning to launch locally produced battery-electric vehicles by 2027 and deepening collaborations on intelligent technologies in China to proactively address the challenges of electrification.
