Tesla filed two new trademark applications for the Roadster in the United States on February 3, 2026, including an updated wordmark and a silhouette of the vehicle, hinting that the long-awaited electric supercar may soon make its debut. The car was first unveiled in November 2017, when Elon Musk stated it would launch in 2020 with a starting price of $200,000, a top speed exceeding 250 mph, and a 0–100 mph acceleration time of just 4.2 seconds. However, deliveries have been repeatedly delayed, with no substantial progress made over the years. In its recent earnings report, Tesla noted that “production preparations for the next-generation Roadster are actively advancing in North America,” and Musk further revealed plans to hold a Roadster 2 demonstration event on April 1, aiming to begin production within the following 12 to 18 months. Despite these updates, given Tesla’s history of delays, observers remain cautiously optimistic.
