Toyota's Century brand is nearing production of its first flagship two-door coupe, slated for launch in 2027 to commemorate the brand’s 60th anniversary. The new model is expected to feature a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering over 800 horsepower—replacing the 4.0L V8 previously used in the GR GT. This move aligns with Toyota’s strategy to position Century as an independent ultra-luxury marque. The powertrain will likely evolve from existing technologies rather than being developed entirely from scratch. It will reportedly be paired with either an 8-speed or 10-speed automatic transmission and come standard with Toyota’s E-Four electric all-wheel-drive system. Styling will carry over key elements from the 2023 concept car but tone down the SUV-inspired cues. Inside, the cabin is expected to shift from the concept’s two-seat layout to a more practical four-seat configuration. Production will be strictly limited. In Japan, pricing is anticipated to start above ¥30 million (approximately RMB 1.32 million), with high-end variants reaching ¥50–70 million. Positioned against rivals like the Bentley Continental GT and Rolls-Royce Wraith, the vehicle will emphasize Toyota’s hallmark reliability and durability alongside its luxury credentials.
