During a live broadcast on February 10—the traditional "Little New Year's Eve"—Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi’s electric vehicles utilize the company’s self-developed "Xiaomi Titan Alloy" to enable ultra-large die-casting, integrating over 70 components into a single molded part. This significantly enhances body strength and safety, offering notable efficiency gains despite higher costs. Both the material and the entire die-casting system were independently developed by Xiaomi, with the die-casting machines manufactured by Haitian Metalforming and already certified through technical evaluation. Additionally, Xiaomi—jointly with Yuchaitang and Northeastern University—recently developed an ultra-high-strength steel rated at 2,200 MPa, which has drawn praise from People.cn (the online platform of People's Daily). This new steel demonstrates a substantial improvement over mainstream 1,500 MPa-grade steel, increasing the crash resistance of B-pillars by 70.5% and providing critical technological support for the co-optimization of vehicle lightweighting and safety performance.
