A Michigan mother recently revealed on TikTok that her underage daughter was sold a used car by Enterprise Car Sales despite explicitly stating she did not have a driver’s license, and had already paid a $2,000 deposit. Days later, the lender, Global Lending, denied the loan application upon discovering the buyer lacked a valid driver’s license. Although the mother offered to assume the loan under her own name, she was unable to reach the dealership after multiple attempts over seven days. The vehicle remains in the family’s possession, but it is unclear whether the deposit will be refunded. While it is not illegal for someone without a driver’s license to purchase a car, most lenders require a valid license to process insurance and approve financing. Although Enterprise Car Sales has a policy allowing returns within seven days (with a $200 restocking fee), it remains uncertain whether this policy applies in cases where financing falls through. The family says they may pursue legal action and contact the state attorney general’s office to seek recourse.
