According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the subcompact SUV market delivered a lackluster performance in February, with no model surpassing 10,000 units in sales. Gasoline-powered models currently hold an edge, led by the Geely Binyue, which topped the segment with 6,834 units sold, thanks to its trendy design and strong reputation. The all-electric BYD Yuan UP followed closely behind with 5,235 units, targeting urban commuting scenarios. Other gasoline models, such as the Trumpchi GS3 and Chery Tiggo 5x, also performed well. Although gasoline-powered subcompact SUVs currently enjoy greater popularity than their new-energy counterparts, industry insiders expect this landscape to shift as more new-energy models enter the market.
