Volvo has announced it will discontinue sales of its entry-level electric SUV, the EX30, in the U.S. market. The model only launched in the United States at the end of 2024 and will have been on sale for less than two years. The company cited "changing market conditions and financial considerations" as the reason for the move but emphasized that this decision does not affect its overall electrification strategy. U.S. dealers can continue placing orders for the EX30 and its Cross Country variant until March 20, 2026. Although exiting the U.S. market, the EX30 will remain available in other regions, including Canada and Mexico. This announcement follows Volvo’s recent recall of over 40,000 EX30 vehicles due to a risk of battery overheating. In the U.S., Volvo will continue advancing its EX90 and the upcoming EX60 electric models. The decision underscores the challenges currently facing the U.S. EV market, where fluctuating demand, regulatory pressures, and safety concerns are accelerating automakers’ adjustments to their product lineups.
