On March 17, Wei Jianjun, CEO of Great Wall Motor, stated in the “Dialogue” column of People’s Daily that he firmly opposes unprincipled price wars in the automotive industry. He pointed out that some automakers are recklessly cutting prices to chase market share, which not only harms dealers and suppliers but also jeopardizes employee welfare. Great Wall Motor will adhere to long-termism and reject cutthroat, zero-sum competition. Wei emphasized that for Chinese automakers to truly globalize, they must go beyond simply exporting vehicles—they must also take their industrial chains and culture overseas, creating local jobs and boosting economies to achieve mutual benefits. He further stressed that corporate credibility is the cornerstone of global success: only by acting with integrity and standing behind their commitments can Chinese brands earn the trust of overseas consumers and build a solid foundation of trust in global markets.
