Facing a challenging global market environment, Bentley has announced plans to cut 275 jobs—approximately 6% of its global workforce—primarily affecting administrative roles at its Crewe, UK factory, while production teams remain unaffected. Despite posting profits for seven consecutive years and experiencing only a modest 4.8% decline in sales, the company is implementing comprehensive cost-control measures due to multiple pressures: the impact of Trump-era tariffs on the U.S. market, weakening demand in China, and UK automotive output falling to its lowest level in 70 years. Concurrently, Bentley is significantly revising its electrification strategy: its original target of becoming fully electric by 2035 has been postponed; four out of five planned electric models have been canceled, leaving only the "urban SUV" slated for launch in 2027. The next all-electric model will not arrive before 2030, although a luxury all-electric urban SUV is set to debut as early as next year.
