In 2025, China's auto industry delivered an outstanding performance, with new energy vehicle (NEV) sales surpassing 16 million units—accounting for over 50% of total domestic new car sales for the first time—and becoming a core driver of consumption growth. China has maintained its position as the world’s largest automobile producer and seller for the 17th consecutive year, with a national vehicle fleet reaching 366 million units. As consumer demand shifts from simply “owning a car” to “using a car well,” there is growing emphasis on personalization, quality, and service, creating new blue-ocean opportunities in consumption. Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, stated that in 2026, the government will optimize policies supporting trade-ins of older vehicles for new ones, launch pilot reforms in automotive distribution and consumption, improve industry regulation, and comprehensively enhance and expand auto consumption across the entire value chain. Leveraging its vast market scale and complete industrial chain, China continues to unlock the immense potential of automotive consumption.
