According to Reuters, Chery Automobile executives revealed on March 31 that the company plans to start production at its Nissan-acquired Rosslyn plant in South Africa by the end of 2027 at the latest, simultaneously rolling out hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles. The facility will feature flexible manufacturing capabilities for multiple vehicle models and support exports to both African and European markets. Over the next 12 to 18 months, Chery will advance the plant’s restart and production line upgrades while building a localized automotive parts supply chain. Since re-entering the South African market four years ago, Chery has achieved annual sales of 50,000 units and expanded its dealer network to 150 outlets. This move aims to enhance delivery efficiency, strengthen competitiveness, and address potential overseas trade barriers.
