XPeng Deliveries Drop 17.44% YoY in March, Marking Third Straight Monthly Decline

In early April 2024, several domestic new-energy vehicle (NEV) startups released their March delivery figures. The industry as a whole showed signs of recovery, with most brands reporting year-over-year growth—yet XPeng Motors was among the few that failed to achieve positive year-over-year growth. According to data, XPeng delivered 27,415 vehicles in March, a 17.44% decline compared to the same period last year. From January to March 2024, XPeng’s monthly deliveries consistently fell short of those in the corresponding months of the previous year. Analysts attribute this trend to a high sales base from the same period last year and the company’s current product transition cycle, both of which have placed downward pressure on sales growth. Further analysis reveals that XPeng is facing multiple challenges: its brand positioning has been somewhat diluted due to the market strategy of its new MONA M03 model; its premium models lack sufficient competitiveness in the market; its newly launched extended-range electric vehicles have yet to generate meaningful sales traction; and its long-standing advantage in intelligent driving technology is showing signs of being eroded in the marketplace. Additionally, the company’s significant investments in emerging ventures such as flying cars may be diverting resources away from its core automotive business. XPeng currently stands at a critical juncture of product restructuring and strategic execution, making its future market performance worth watching closely.
