Recently, multiple automakers have introduced factory-installed rotating seats in their premium models, driving an upgrade in how interior cabin space is utilized. VOYAH has unveiled its "Courtyard-Class SUV" concept, highlighting a 6.1-square-meter cabin that accommodates a fully flat 2-meter bed and features two independent zero-gravity rear seats. Meanwhile, models such as the Li Auto MEGA Home, Lynk & Co 900, Zeekr MIX, and the upcoming Huawei-Serena V9 all feature rotating seats, with prices generally starting above RMB 250,000. Brands differ in their implementation of rotating seats: - The Li Auto MEGA Home comes standard with second-row zero-gravity rotating seats offering 45° welcome, 90° scenic-view, and 180° face-to-face seating modes. - The Lynk & Co 900 equips dual 180° electrically rotating second-row seats, with the right-side seat featuring zero-gravity functionality. - The Zeekr MIX enables front seats to rotate up to 270° continuously, paired with a 2-meter sliding rail to expand usage scenarios. - The Huawei-Serena V9 offers three preset rotation angles, catering to welcome, scenic-view, and face-to-face interaction needs. Mass production of rotating seats relies on three key technological enablers: lightweight yet high-strength rotating mechanisms (e.g., aerospace-grade aluminum alloys and redundant tracks), compact motors and control systems (enabling smooth, quiet operation in approximately 5 seconds), and comprehensive safety logic (activation only when parked, automatic locking during driving, and obstacle detection). Industry sources indicate that NIO’s upcoming ES9 and the next-generation Li Auto L9 are also expected to adopt this feature. As suppliers like Magna roll out modular seat systems, rotating seats are gradually moving from exclusive premium offerings toward the mainstream market. However, whether they become standard equipment depends on real-world usage frequency, cost control, and long-term safety and reliability. Current implementations largely focus on demonstrating spatial possibilities, and ultimate market acceptance will hinge on genuine user demand in everyday driving scenarios.
