On April 2, 2026, SAIC Motor released its March production and sales report. The company sold 376,000 vehicles in March, ranking first in industry sales for the third consecutive month. In the first quarter, SAIC achieved cumulative wholesale sales of 973,000 units, up 3% year-over-year, and retail sales reached 1,008,000 units—making it the only Chinese automaker to surpass one million retail deliveries during the period. Among these figures, SAIC’s self-owned brands recorded sales of 657,000 units in the first quarter, an increase of 9.3% year-over-year, accounting for 67.6% of the group’s total sales. SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company, IM Motors, and SAIC-GM-Wuling all delivered strong performances. In overseas markets, SAIC exported 121,346 vehicles or sold them through overseas production bases in March, a 47.37% year-over-year increase. Total overseas sales for the first quarter reached 325,000 units, up 48.3% year-over-year, with the MG brand standing out notably in the European market. Within its joint venture segment, SAIC-GM saw steady sales recovery, while SAIC Volkswagen, though facing short-term pressures, maintained a solid foundation and accelerated its transition toward new energy vehicles (NEVs). In the NEV segment, SAIC sold 270,000 new energy vehicles in the first quarter, supported by robust order demand.
