Nissan Motor reported sales of 54,616 new vehicles in China in March, up 23.0% year-over-year, ending a streak of consecutive monthly declines. Among its models, the Teana—a gasoline-powered sedan equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS Cockpit—performed particularly well. The Teana was launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 21, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 129,900 and comes standard across all trims with HarmonyOS Cockpit 5. In the same period, Toyota sold 142,700 vehicles in China, down 8.0% year-over-year, marking its second consecutive month of decline. Honda’s sales totaled 36,201 units, a sharp 34.3% drop from the previous year, extending its sales slump to 26 consecutive months. According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), total new vehicle sales in China reached 2.024 million units in March, down 16.0% year-over-year. Industry analysts noted that slowing growth in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market and rising gasoline prices have negatively impacted Japanese automakers’ sales performance.
