Mazda plans to officially discontinue two models that have been in service for over a decade—the CX-3 and Mazda2—by the end of 2026. According to Japanese media reports, production of the CX-3 will end in March 2024, followed by the Mazda2 in June 2024, after which remaining inventory will be cleared through sales. Both models, launched in 2014 and updated through multiple revisions, are the longest-serving vehicles currently in Mazda’s lineup. To meet growing market demand for technological and design updates, Mazda is developing successors: the Vision X-Compact concept car, unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, is expected to enter mass production in 2027 as an even smaller urban microcar. Meanwhile, a potential successor to the CX-3 has already been shown in design sketches in Thailand, possibly named the CX-20 and targeting the compact SUV segment, though global launch plans have not yet been confirmed.
