Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast recently announced a strategic partnership with Israeli AI company Autobrains to jointly develop an enhanced L2++ advanced driver-assistance system and advance a cost-effective L4 autonomous driving system named "Robo-Car." The system relies solely on seven standard cameras and a single 20 TOPS computing chip—eliminating the need for LiDAR or millimeter-wave radar—and leverages Autobrains' visual mapping technology to operate without dependence on high-definition maps. VinFast has already begun pilot testing the L2++ features on its VF 8 and VF 9 models, while Robo-Car is undergoing real-world trials in select areas of Hanoi, Vietnam.
