On February 1, a leased Xiaomi SU7 in Yingkou, Liaoning Province caught fire shortly after leaving its parking spot following a charging session. Thick smoke billowed from the scene, accompanied by explosive sparks resembling "fireworks." Smoke initially emerged from the front-center console and seat area of the vehicle. The driver promptly moved the car to an open area before the cabin was engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported. On February 4, Xiaomi officially responded, stating that the direct cause of the incident was "an ignition source left inside the vehicle that ignited surrounding combustible materials," and emphasized that the fire was unrelated to the battery or other vehicle systems. The company explained that the so-called "firework" effect resulted from airbags detonating due to high temperatures. Xiaomi stressed it would assist with follow-up procedures and urged the public to rely solely on official information, refraining from spreading or believing rumors. Previously, similar fire incidents involving Xiaomi vehicles occurred in Haikou and Kaifeng, and in both cases, the company swiftly issued statements confirming that battery data remained normal—demonstrating its transparent and efficient crisis response mechanism.
