FAW Audi Dealers Shut Down Across Multiple Regions, Leaving Owners Stranded on Maintenance Packages

Recently, FAW Audi dealerships across multiple regions in China have successively shut down, affecting more than ten provinces and municipalities including Guangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong, sparking concerns among car owners about the protection of their after-sales rights. Numerous owners reported that after store closures, previously purchased maintenance packages were not fully honored by new dealerships—some were asked to pay extra fees, others required to bundle insurance purchases, and in some cases, maintenance records could not even be entered into the official system. FAW Audi’s customer service stated that maintenance packages sold through non-official channels are solely the responsibility of individual dealers, and the manufacturer cannot directly fulfill these obligations. They advised consumers to seek legal remedies through judicial channels. Meanwhile, several major dealership groups, such as Yuntong Group and Baolide, have also fallen into operational crises or even filed for bankruptcy. Industry analysts point out that intense price wars have exacerbated losses on new vehicle sales, placing severe pressure on dealers’ cash flows. Over half of all dealerships are projected to operate at a loss in the first half of 2025. Experts are urging automakers to optimize their distribution strategies and establish mechanisms to ensure seamless after-sales service transitions, thereby safeguarding consumer rights and brand reputation.
