Mercedes-Benz recently announced a recall in the United States of 11,895 EQB electric vehicles from model years 2022 to 2024 due to a risk of internal short circuits in their high-voltage batteries (model EB330), which could lead to thermal runaway and even fire. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has confirmed the issue and advised owners to park their vehicles outdoors, away from buildings, and to limit charging to reduce risk. As a remedy, Mercedes-Benz will replace the high-voltage battery free of charge through authorized dealers for affected vehicles. The recall was announced on February 12 local time to ensure user safety.
