Toyota's new RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) launched in the Japanese market features an "HV Power Supply Mode" that enables vehicle-to-home (V2H) power delivery. This function provides up to 1.5 kW of output through a standard 100-volt household outlet—the common residential voltage in Japan. Although this output is lower than that of vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Toyota states that given the average Japanese household’s daily electricity consumption of approximately 400 watts, the RAV4 PHEV can supply power for up to 6.5 days. Currently, this feature is exclusive to the Japanese market, with the U.S.-spec RAV4 PHEV not offering it. However, Toyota plans to equip its upcoming all-electric Highlander—scheduled for release later this year—with V2H capability, though specific details have not yet been disclosed.
