One salesperson joked, “Older guys walk in saying, ‘I want to buy a Corvette,’ but they can barely bend down to get into the seat!” Despite the teasing, some online commenters pushed back, arguing that buying a Corvette isn’t a sign of crisis but rather “finally being able to afford your dream.” Statistics show that the average age of Corvette buyers in the U.S. is over 65. However, the newer C8 model has gained significant popularity among buyers under 35, thanks to its mid-engine layout and high-performance 5.5L V8 engine, which delivers a “supercar-level” driving experience. Other vehicles frequently labeled as “midlife toys” include the Mustang, Supra, Camaro, BMWs, and the Nissan Z. Meanwhile, lifted Ford pickup trucks were humorously dubbed not just a “midlife crisis,” but a full-blown “life crisis.”
