As of March 11, 2026, Ford has initiated 19 recalls affecting approximately 7.4 million vehicles and over 2,600 engine block heaters. The largest of these recalls covers 4.4 million trucks, including the best-selling F-Series pickups, due to a software glitch that could cause trailer brake and turn signals to malfunction. Ford will address the issue via an over-the-air software update. Although the number of recalls this year may fall short of the record 153 issued in 2025—which impacted nearly 13 million vehicles—the total number of affected vehicles could reach a new high. In recent years, Ford has drawn significant scrutiny for its frequent recalls and was fined by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in late 2024 for failing to comply with federal recall regulations. Since then, Ford has pledged to strengthen its safety team, increase testing of critical systems, and cooperate with NHTSA in a three-year program of quarterly reviews.
