Recently, Mr. Zhang, a car owner from Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, experienced a frightening incident while driving his Tesla Model Y: the driver’s door suddenly popped open mid-drive at a speed of approximately 20 km/h, creating a noticeable gap. Mr. Zhang had to manually pull it shut. He admitted that if the vehicle had been traveling faster, he could have been thrown out of the car. After the incident, Mr. Zhang requested the vehicle’s backend driving data from Tesla’s local service center to investigate the cause, but his request was denied. Service personnel initially speculated that a faulty door latch might be responsible; however, neither Tesla nor the service center has provided an official explanation to date. Mr. Zhang stated he has lost confidence in the vehicle’s safety and insists on obtaining the complete driving log to identify the root cause of the malfunction.
