2026-03-28 22:30:13BMW is evaluating the launch of a full-size SUV larger than the X7, with the potential model possibly named the X9, primarily targeting rivals such as the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade. Bernd Körber, Senior Vice President of Brand and Product Management at BMW, stated that the vehicle holds strong potential for success in a select number of core markets, led by the United States—currently, about 80% of X7 sales come from the U.S., and 10% from the Middle East. If the project moves forward, the X9 would maintain this market focus but would not be exclusive to the U.S.; markets such as the Middle East, China, South Korea, and select European countries are also under consideration. The new SUV could cater to high-profile customers, including government officials, who demand more interior space and a higher seating position. However, Körber emphasized that the project has not yet been formally approved, as BMW continues to assess whether it aligns with the brand’s strategic direction and market demand.
