2026-06-04 11:03:00BYD is advancing its development of humanoid robots, which will initially be deployed in its global 4S stores to handle standardized services such as product demonstrations and customer reception. The company plans to install four robots in each overseas 4S store to address challenges like labor shortages and high costs associated with multilingual service support, with large-scale deployment set to begin first in Europe and other regions. Li Ke, Executive Vice President of BYD, stated that the company holds strong advantages in manufacturing, software, and hardware, and has already partnered with firms like UBTECH and Agility Robotics while independently producing core robot components. BYD has already deployed 150 humanoid robots for testing in its automotive factories and has invested in companies such as Agility Robotics and Paxini Perception. The company has also co-established the "Embodied Intelligence Joint Laboratory" with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, creating a complete closed-loop ecosystem spanning components, whole machines, and application scenarios. The first phase of BYD’s robotics industrial park in Xi’an has commenced production, with an annual capacity of 50,000 units. BYD aims to deploy 20,000 humanoid robots internally by 2026 and is considering building an open platform—enabling both sales of its own robots and collaborative development with partners.
