2026-07-14 14:51:10Tesla has submitted an application to Italy's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for certification of its FSD (Supervised) software. Italian authorities confirmed receipt of the application documents and have initiated the technical evaluation process. This submission does not seek a new certification but rather requests that Italy recognize the type approval granted to FSD by Dutch regulators in April 2024. The Netherlands was the first EU country to approve FSD, and its certification can serve as a reference for approvals in other member states. Leveraging the EU’s mutual recognition mechanism for vehicle certifications, FSD has recently been approved for use in several European countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, and Lithuania. Although Sweden has expressed reservations about FSD and urged the EU to reject the system—citing concerns that its "Speed Offset" feature could lead to speeding—the overall rollout of FSD across Europe continues to accelerate. With Italy now entering the review phase, local Tesla owners may soon be able to use the feature for their daily commutes.
