2026-09-17 21:36:11According to reports on the evening of September 17, Mercedes-AMG’s first independently developed SUV—the all-electric AMG GT SUV—is scheduled to make its global debut on October 17, 2026, at The 140 Festival event held at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. This model represents an entirely new vehicle developed independently by AMG from the ground up. The vehicle is planned for official market launch in 2027, with initial deliveries expected in early 2027, though the exact month has not been confirmed. In November 2024, AMG unveiled plans for a large all-electric SUV, defining it as a full-size “super SUV” positioned above the existing EQE SUV and EQS SUV. It will become the second production model based on AMG’s dedicated all-electric platform, AMG.EA—an architecture specifically engineered for high-performance electric vehicles. The platform’s first model is the yet-to-be-officially-launched AMG GT four-door coupe. The top-trim GT 63 four-door variant delivers a maximum output of 1,153 horsepower and peak torque of approximately 2,000 N·m, equipped with an 800V electrical architecture and a 106 kWh battery pack, enabling peak DC fast-charging power exceeding 600 kW at compatible charging stations. Based on currently disclosed information, this three-motor coupe-style SUV is expected to adopt the same YASA axial-flux motor configuration, direct cell cooling technology, and 800V electrical architecture as the AMG GT four-door coupe. However, AMG has not yet confirmed whether the SUV will achieve performance levels equivalent to those of the GT four-door coupe, and full specifications regarding the suspension and steering systems remain pending official disclosure.
