From the beginning of contact to today's signing, we feel the honesty, friendship, enthusiasm, and attention and support of the leaders at all levels, which have strengthened the confidence and determination of Great Wall Group to invest in Taizhou.”

Shi Lijun, Mayor of Taizhou City, said: "This forward-looking project fully reflects the strategic vision of GWM. It is the recognition and trust of Taizhou's development prospects and investment environment. This will not only help enterprises optimize their layout, seize market opportunities, but also provide important support for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and the real economy."

It is reported that the project was invested and constructed by Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Great Wall Holdings Group. The project will invest 8 billion yuan initially and will build automobile, interior and exterior and chassis manufacturing projects in Gaogang District. At the same time, GWM is to set auto-vehicle manufacturing as the core, supplemented by key car parts and services such as auto finance, auto insurance, and shared travel to build an all-round automotive industry chain system, and to create the most influential automotive technology industry park in East China.

In 2018, GWM sold a total of 1,053,039 new cars. Among them, 766,062 units were the Haval brand, accounting for nearly 73% of the total. The WEY brand was sold 139,486 units, up 61.4% year-on-year. The Great Wall pickup truck was sold 138,000 units, up 15.2% year-on-year, and the Ora brand was sold 3,515 units.

Due to macroeconomic development, the overall demand of the automotive industry and the launch of new products, GWM set its sales target at 1.2 million units in 2019. Driven by the national “Innovation Driven Development” strategy, “Made in China 2025” strategy and the comprehensive development strategy of “SUV + Pickup + New Energy + Shared Travel”, GWM will actively deploy an interconnected and shared layout that is clean and smart so as to transform from a traditional manufacturer to a smart travel service provider.
