In 2025, India’s automobile exports reached a record high of 858,000 units, up 15% year-on-year. This growth was primarily driven by rising demand in Africa, South America, and West Asia, as well as improvements in domestic supply chains and cost competitiveness. Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automaker, exported 395,000 vehicles—accounting for 46% of the country’s total—and shipped over 13,000 e-Vitara electric vehicles to 29 countries, including those in Europe. Hyundai Motor India exported 186,500 units, while Honda Cars India exported more than 36,000 units to 33 countries. India has now become the world’s fourth-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, with a goal to increase its export share from 15% to 30% within five years. However, Mexico plans to significantly raise tariffs starting in 2026, which could pose a challenge to Indian exports—though a bilateral trade agreement between India and Mexico is expected to be finalized soon.
