FAW-Volkswagen Tayron LPHEV Filed for Approval: 1.5T Plug-in Hybrid with Over 100km Electric Range Set for Launch

FAW-Volkswagen’s Tayron LPHEV has officially completed its filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and is expected to launch in Q1 2026. The new model will be offered in two exterior trims: a standard version with a more understated design and an R-Line variant featuring a sportier look, both equipped with an illuminated logo. While overall dimensions differ slightly between the two versions, they share a uniform wheelbase of 2,791 mm, offering enhanced interior space. Powering the vehicle is a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5T engine and an electric motor. The engine delivers a net output of 95 kW, while the motor peaks at 145 kW. Under the CLTC cycle, the pure-electric range is expected to exceed 100 km, with battery cells supplied by Sunwoda. In terms of features, the Tayron LPHEV will come equipped with Volkswagen’s IQ.Pilot driver-assistance system, supporting adaptive cruise control, lane changes via turn-signal activation, and automatic parking. It will also include a standard Event Data Recorder (EDR) system.
