The Volkswagen ID.3 is set for a comprehensive facelift, with its official debut expected in the second quarter of this year. The updated model will feature enhancements in exterior design, interior layout, and battery technology. Its front fascia will adopt the new design language shared with the upcoming ID. Polo, marking a return to Volkswagen’s classic styling cues. Inside, physical buttons will be reintroduced to improve usability, alongside upgraded materials and build quality. Technologically, the MEB-based ID.3 will offer higher performance, extended range, and faster charging speeds, and will now be available with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery option to lower the entry price. Additionally, the high-performance variant—currently badged as “GTX”—may be renamed “GTI,” and the model name itself could change, with a possible future rebranding as the “ID. Golf.” This overhaul aims to address competitive pressure from Chinese brands and fill the market gap left by the delayed launch of the electric Golf, which isn’t expected until 2030.
