According to the latest data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), domestic retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 12.809 million units in 2025, up 17.6% year-over-year. In December alone, retail sales totaled 1.337 million units, an increase of 2.6% year-over-year and a slight 1.2% month-over-month rise. Meanwhile, the conventional fuel-powered vehicle market continued to shrink: retail sales of conventional fuel-powered passenger cars in December stood at 920,000 units, down 30% year-over-year, with full-year sales totaling 10.94 million units—a 9% decline compared to the previous year. The data highlights the robust growth momentum of new energy vehicles in the Chinese market and the further erosion of market share for fuel-powered vehicles.
