On January 10, Changan Automobile officially broke ground on its Global Science and Art Center project in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing. With a total investment of RMB 1.389 billion, the facility will occupy 219 acres and feature a total construction area of 172,000 square meters. Positioned as a “global hub for forward-looking technologies and design,” the center will focus on core technology R&D in areas such as new energy vehicles and intelligent driving, supporting the upgrade of Changan’s three digital-intelligent new energy brands: Avatr, Deepal, and Qiyuan. Upon completion, the center will accommodate 2,000 R&D and design personnel, establishing an integrated layout comprising “a peak in science and art, a pillar for engineering development, and a base for smart manufacturing.” Currently, Changan has built a global R&D network spanning ten locations across six countries, employing over 24,000 R&D personnel and filing more than 14,000 patent applications over the past three years. In 2025, Changan Automobile achieved annual sales of 2.913 million vehicles and successfully obtained China’s first official license plate for Level 3 (L3) autonomous driving.
