In 2025, General Motors (GM) achieved steady sales growth in China, delivering nearly 1.9 million vehicles—a 2.3% year-over-year increase. Notably, its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales approached 1 million units, accounting for over 50% of total sales for the first time and surging 22.6% compared to the previous year. This success stems from a series of reforms focused on localization and efficiency improvements, including empowering local Chinese teams with greater decision-making authority, accelerating localized R&D, and advancing its sustainability strategy. Strong performers included the Buick MPV family, the Envision SUV, and the LaCrosse sedan. Cadillac continued its steady progress in electrification, while Wuling’s Hongguang MINIEV and Bingo series remained hot sellers. Sales of Baojun models also rebounded. Despite challenges such as the transition to electrification, intensifying competition in intelligent technologies, and global economic and trade uncertainties, GM stated it will maintain strategic resolve and continue driving transformation forward.
