Recently, a Xiaomi SU7 owner shared their renewal insurance policy issued by Ping An Insurance, sparking widespread discussion. The commercial insurance premium totals just RMB 2,121.26 yet includes comprehensive coverage: RMB 3 million in third-party liability insurance (premium: RMB 395.52), full vehicle damage insurance (coverage amounting to over RMB 190,000 with a premium of RMB 1,545.73), as well as additional protections such as third-party medical expense coverage for non-Medicare-approved treatments (RMB 2 million coverage), occupant liability insurance, driver-specific non-Medicare medical expense coverage, and an EV-specific external power grid failure loss insurance. Adding the mandatory traffic insurance premium of RMB 712.50, the total annual premium comes to less than RMB 2,900. As a popular new-energy vehicle model, the Xiaomi SU7’s unexpectedly low insurance quote challenges the common perception that new-energy vehicle insurance is expensive.
