According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), China exported 273,000 new energy passenger vehicles in December 2023, a year-on-year increase of 119.8%, accounting for 46.4% of total passenger vehicle exports that month. Among these, BYD exported 131,637 units, representing a remarkable 48.2% share—nearly half of the total. For the full year, BYD’s overseas sales surpassed one million units for the first time, reaching 1,049,601 units. In December, other automakers—including Chery, Geely, Leapmotor, and SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle—each exported over 10,000 vehicles, while Tesla China exported 3,328 units. Additionally, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 57.9% of all new energy vehicles exported that month.
